Are you grateful only for the good things in your life?
Throughout 2021, you may have gone through various ups and downs. But will you only be grateful for the good things that happen to your life?
At the end of this year, Be reminded to be grateful in the midst of pain. Whether it's because of the loss of a job, a marriage that has not been blessed with children, uncertain economic conditions, sudden illness and other painful things.
How should we give thanks in the midst of these painful times?
As believers, our basis for looking at life is not from our circumstances but to God's promises. Paul told the Thessalonians to 'give thanks in everything'.
Why? Because 'that is what God wills in Christ for us'.In other words, followers of Christ believe that every difficulty that occurs is a gift from God, it is allowed to happen so that we grow in knowing Him, so that we are again purified and blameless because of sin, and so that we become more intimate with Heavenly Father. We are not alone. Because God is always in full control of our lives.
Even though life may seem difficult, all circumstances are under God's sovereignty.
Why is gratitude important? Because as humans, it is easy for us to get caught up in the lust for worldly pleasures. Whether the desire for a bigger house, a better car, cooler clothes, the latest gadgets and so on.
Until finally my eyes widened when I saw street children sleeping under the bridge, poor people who even have to struggle to eat. In fact, there are many people whose lives are not good and can even rejoice in the midst of these circumstances.
Maybe at home, your children can still sleep with a full stomach. They have a house for shelter. They have both complete parents. They can ride nice cars. Even their future was clear. While in other parts of the region or country, there are many children who do not have such comfort.
