1 John 5:11-12 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son does not have life.
This passage tells us that God has given us eternal life and this life is in His Son, Jesus Christ.
In other words, the way to get eternal life is to have the Son. The question is, how can one have the Son of God?
What Separated Us from God
Isaiah 59:2 But, what separates you from your God is all your iniquities, and it is your sins that have kept him hidden from you, so that he may not hear.
Romans 5:8 But God shows His love for us, because Christ died for us while we were still sinners.
According to Romans 5:8 , God showed His love for us through the death of His Son.
Why did Christ have to die for us?
Because the Bible says that all humans have sinned. “Sin” means not hitting the target. The Bible says “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” ( Rom. 3:23 ). In other words, our sin separates us from a perfectly holy God (in righteousness and justice) and therefore God must punish man's sin.
Habakkuk 1:13 a Your eyes are too pure to see evil and you cannot see injustice.

The futility of our efforts
The Bible also teaches that there is no human virtue, effort, moral, or religious activity that is acceptable to God or can get a person into heaven. Moral humans, religious humans, and immoral and non-religious humans are in the same boat. They cannot meet God's requirements. After discussing the immoral man, the moral man, and the religious man in Romans 1:18-3:8 , the Apostle Paul stated that both Jews and Greeks were under sin, namely, "There is none righteous, not even one" ( Rom. 3: 9-10 ).
Apart from this there are several similar Bible verses:
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you are saved by faith; it is not the result of your work, but the gift of God, 9 it is not the result of your work: let no one boast.
Titus 3:5-7 at that time he saved us, not because of the good works we had done, but because of his grace through the washing of regeneration and the renewal of the Holy Spirit, 6 which he bestowed on us by Jesus Christ, our Savior, 7 so that we, as people justified by His grace, have the right to receive eternal life, according to our hope.
Romans 4:1-5 So what shall we say about Abraham, our natural forefather? 2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he had reason to boast, but not before God. 3 For what does the Scripture say? "Then Abraham believed in God, and God counted it to him as righteousness." 4 If someone works, his wages are not counted as a gift, but as his due. 5 But if anyone does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness,
There is no human goodness that pleases God. God is perfect in truth. Therefore, Habakkuk 1:13 tells us that God cannot fellowship with imperfect people in righteousness. To be accepted by God, we must be as good as God. Before God, we stand naked, helpless. No amount of good living will take us to heaven or give us eternal life. So what's the solution?
God's Solution
God is not only perfect in holiness (a character of holiness that we cannot gain through our efforts) but He is also perfect in love and full of mercy and grace. Because of His love and grace, He does not leave us without hope and answers.

Romans 5:8 But God shows His love for us, because Christ died for us while we were still sinners.
This is the good news of the Bible, the content of the gospel. This message about God giving His Son to be human (God incarnate), living without sin, dying on the cross for our sins, and being raised from the dead proves that He is the Son of God and the value of His death in our place.
Romans 1:4 and according to the Spirit of holiness revealed by His resurrection from the dead, that He is the Son of God with power, Jesus Christ our Lord,
Romans 4:25 is Jesus, who was delivered for our trespasses and was raised for our justification.
2 Corinthians 5:21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.
1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also died once for our sins, just for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God; He who was slain in the flesh, but who was raised according to the Spirit;
How Can We Receive God's Son?
Because of what Jesus Christ accomplished for us on the cross, the Bible says "He who has the Son has life." We can receive the Son, Jesus Christ, as our Savior through faith, by believing in the person of Christ and His death for our sins.
John 1:12 But to all who received him he gave power to become children of God, to those who believe in his name.
John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that everyone who believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to judge the world, but to save it through Him. Whoever believes in Him will not be condemned; whoever does not believe is under condemnation, because he did not believe in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
This means that we all come to God in the same way:
(1) as sinners who are aware of their sinfulness.
(2) realize that no human effort can produce salvation, and
(3) surrender completely to Christ only through faith for salvation.
