7 Forbidden Sentences You Shouldn't Say to Your Boss

Your attitude at work can reveal your true personality. Are you the type of person who is easygoing, easy to panic, stubborn, or careless. This attitude is often used as an assessment material by superiors.

Maintaining an attitude in the office is very important. Not only through body language, but also when communicating. Don't say the following forbidden words to your boss if you want to be successful at the company.

1. I can't do it

Each employee has a different workload. When compared to other employees, you may be given more difficult tasks. However, the phrase "I can't do it" is not wise when spoken in front of superiors.

This sentence indirectly lowers your quality which makes your boss less confident when you want to give other assignments. As a result, the opportunity to become the boss's "right hand" failed to be obtained.

Even though the task is difficult, what's wrong with being optimistic. If you don't know, ask for help from a superior who knows more about the details of the job. As a result, the work can be completed with satisfactory results.

2. This is not my job

The matter of being given additional assignments often occurs when a co-worker is on leave or is overwhelmed with his duties. When you're not in a good mood and your boss gives you extra work, this is what you might say as an expression of annoyance.

You may be upset, but saying the sentence is not correct. It's better to find another sentence as an answer, such as "I will try to help when my assignment is finished".

It's certainly better to hear, right? On the other hand, coworkers who are helped are far from feeling guilty for having troubled you.

3. I am not willing to change divisions

Switching divisions is a natural thing to happen in the world of work. When you are transferred to another division, don't immediately say "I don't want to change division". In addition to being annoyed, there is a possibility that your boss will pay more attention to your daily life at the office to find out the reason behind the unwilling sentence.

If it turns out that the reason is because the work in the division is now more relaxed, the boss may provide additional work. It's a good idea to find out the division and have a good talk with your boss.

Give a logical reason if you really have an objection. If you don't mind, ask what benefits you can get if the duties and responsibilities in the new division are more difficult.

4. My time is limited

When there is a massive layoff of employees, usually the boss will delegate additional work to the remaining employees. This automatically makes the workload increase because honestly you also have main work to complete. On the other hand, time is very limited.

Even so, try not to turn down an offer made by your boss. Especially to say "my time is limited" because everyone experiences the same thing.

It's better to accept the task and ask your boss for additional time to complete it. Your boss will really appreciate your attitude.

5. I'm getting bored

Doing the same thing certainly causes boredom, but don't let this boredom make you lazy in the office. You still have to remember your duties and responsibilities as an employee, which is to do every task with good results.

If you are bored, learn another job in the office to increase your skills. When the task has been completed, for example, ask colleagues to share knowledge about their daily work. You can also directly speak to your boss using more polite sentences.

If the company is asked to send a delegation to attend training, your boss can send you as a participant. As a result, your days feel colorful.

6. I don't like him

Disputes in the world of work are natural things that often cause dislike. However, conveying this dislike to your superiors is labeled as less pleasing and lowers your professionalism at work.

The dispute is a personal matter that must be resolved one-on-one even if it has to do with work. There is no need to involve any party to seek support.

Involving other people actually makes the problem bigger, you know! Have a good talk and find a solution because after all, you will meet this person every day at the office. How long do you want to argue?

7. The job does not benefit me

Avoid sentences that have to do with profit and loss, especially in the world of work. This sentence indicates that you are too calculating of time and energy.

Assume that the job is to add to your busyness in the office as well as to build a positive image as a reliable employee. Trust me, sooner or later your boss will appreciate this.

On the other hand, you can also learn new knowledge which is certainly useful in the future. Whether it's in the same company or a new company later.

Build a Positive Image in the Office

There will be a lot of things you don't like about the workplace, but try to maintain an attitude to build a positive image. Control your emotions so that unpleasant sentences don't come out, so that no one is hurt to hear them.
